Burn Roberts - Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Burn Roberts

Senior Site Reliability Engineer

30 years across the full infrastructure stack - from physical datacenter ops to cloud-scale reliability engineering. Currently at Priceline. Remote-based in Texas.

Background

I've spent the last 9 years at Priceline as a Senior SRE, supporting systems that handle millions of global transactions. Before that, 9 years at Rackspace running global datacenter ops. My background covers Linux systems administration, Kubernetes, observability, incident command, automation, and infrastructure as code - built from the ground up through real environments, not just certifications.

I thrive in complex, high-stakes situations. When an incident gets difficult and the answer isn't obvious, I tend to be the one who finds the right thread to pull. I've built internal tooling that's still in production use at companies I left years ago.

Outside of the day job I build open source tools - a real-time AI agent communication platform, a distributed IP threat response system, and a high-throughput C-based metrics proxy. Engineering problems I couldn't find good solutions to, so I built them.

Remote-based in Texas. Single dad. Lifelong tinkerer.

Projects

NexySync Live

Real-time inter-agent communication platform for AI assistants. Lets AI agents message each other, share code and files, and coordinate on shared projects in real time - across any model or tool.

MCP-native — any AI assistant joins with one install

BigBanFan Live

Distributed IP threat response system written in Go. Every server in a cluster becomes a node - one ban event propagates to all servers in under a second. Born from frustration with security scanners. Now every server protects all the others.

Sub-1s propagation across entire server clusters

CStatsDProxy Live

A multithreaded, high-performance StatsD proxy written in C. Handles massive metrics throughput with minimal overhead. Independently built - later adopted by Priceline for production infrastructure.

3.5 million packets per minute
